IPAD- Video Project

With your partner you will research iPad features by looking through the Ipad Basics and video links below. Many of the tips they provide you probably already know but some you will not. While you are watching the videos keep in mind what you would like to create your tutorial over and make some notes on a document you and your partner can share.

What makes a tutorial good? What makes it bad and you don't watch it and try to find a different one?

Tutorial Requirements (4-5 minute tutorial)
  • Decide what you will be teaching someone how to do. Are you focusing on one thing or showing a variety of tips? Think about what background knowledge or accounts have to be already set up for what you are teaching.
  • Create an outline of what you will be showing and saying. This needs to be step by step with exact words and actions. Both students will be teaching and recording by splitting into two sections.  I will look over your outline before you start recording.
  • Do a test record and make sure you can hear and see everything you are recording during playback. You don't want to record your entire tutorial and realize there was a loud noise in the background.
  • Introduce yourselves with first names and what you are teaching today and make sure you summarize or wrap up the video, do not just stop recording and cut out.
  • One person will record and one will teach, using the other iPad and narrating. You will record two sections and put them together so each person does both jobs.
  • Make sure you do not go too fast or have a lot of ummm's and downtime.  Don't be afraid to stop and start over. You will probably not get it on the first try and that is ok!
  • Combine your two video clips into one in iMovie, add title text to your intro and whatever else you would like to have text on and then upload to YouTube as a unlisted.  Share the link with me on Classroom and we will watch the presentations as a class.
  • Have fun!

Think Before You Post - 3:35
Last year 29% of college admissions officers reported using online searches when reviewing applicants  and 39% of hiring managers reported researching job candidates online. All students who have posted anything online were reminded to spend some time reviewing their privacy settings and to always "THINK before you POST."  Students then had some time to search for themselves, their friends and their family online.
